On July 27th, 2017, Williams & McDaniel Property Management officially launched its participation in the Certified Rental Building Program’s Living Green Together initiative. In order to take part, the company must comply with a number of environmental standards, including working with residents to reduce energy consumption and increase waste diversion.
“Williams & McDaniel wants to be a good corporate citizen,” company CEO Clark McDaniel said. “This program is just another one of those ways we can demonstrate that we put our residents first.”
McDaniel, joined by representatives from the Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) and the Certified Rental Building (CRB) program, spoke to residents and staff at the launch event, held at one of the company’s apartment buildings on Raymond Street.
He described some of the environmentally friendly initiatives the company has undertaken in order to be part of the Living Green Together program.
They include everything from replacing toilets and light and plumbing fixtures with more efficient models, to using environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies and paint, to using energy efficient appliances, to working on increasing recycling efforts, McDaniel said.
The company’s building managers have been great ambassadors for the program, working to ensure residents are aware of the green initiatives and are doing their part to make sure the strategies are effective, he said.
“The biggest measure of success will come from buy-in by our residents,” he said.
