Welcome to your resource centre for the town of Orillia!

Located in the “heart of Ontario’s lake country” and opening into both Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, Orillia is known for its beautiful waterfront and beaches, its pristine parks and its natural architecture. Still, amidst its natural setting, Orillia is home to a bustling downtown and has all the amenities of any small city. Its convenient public transit system makes it easy to explore both the downtown and the rest of the city.

The Orillia City Centre

Orillia’s downtown offers something for every taste and interest. Along with a wide selection of shops and restaurants, it is also home to one of the province’s longest-running Farmers’ Market, which not only offers fresh produce, but also baked goods, arts and crafts, plants and much more. The downtown is also a great place for entertainment, whether you choose to take in a performance at the Orillia Opera House or attend one of the city’s many festivals and events.

People. Places. Pastimes.

Orillia’s stunning natural landscape makes the city ideal for nature lovers. With beautiful and well-maintained waterfront grounds, parks and walking and hiking trails, you can explore what Orillia has to offer at whatever pace you choose. You may also want to visit one of Orillia’s many arenas and fitness facilities, which offer programs for all ages and fitness levels.

If you’re looking to get involved in Orillia and meet new people, the Champlain Seniors Service Club is a great place to start. This non-profit group of retirees and semi-retirees provides volunteer hours and fundraising support to a number of local charities in the area, including the Canadian Cancer Society, Big Brothers of Orillia, The Alzheimer’s Society and much more.

Trivia…

Orillia features its own Hall of Fame, which was established in 1964 to showcase the many people of influence who have roots in the community. Among the most notable on the list is famous writer and humorist Stephen Leacock. You can learn more about his history at the Stephen Leacock museum, which is housed in his original home and is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
